It’s been a long time since we’ve had the boat in the water. The day was 85 degrees and sunny and we just couldn’t resist.
The old boat still runs like a champ thanks to a bit of tinkering & cleaning on Emily’s part.
The river that flows through the farm empties into the Cumberland River. About 10 miles away is a restaurant where we stopped for lunch before heading home.
We were a bit nervous to get too close to the dam because of Homeland Security rules against video taping “sensitive” U.S. places. Isn’t it crazy that such worries are part of everyday life under this regime in Washington?
The wildlife was wonderful. Here’s a grey herring on the bank keeping an eye on us.
The grassy mass to his left is a duck blind set up by local hunters. We spotted 3 along the banks near the dam.
I loved the clouds reflecting on the water.
We didn’t catch any fish but Emily did have 3 good bites and almost landed a bass.
Sometimes you just have to forget about all the crazy political crap going on and unwind. Stay in the moment. Recharge the batteries...your own... AND... the ones in the boat.
