Democracy Now

Show Notes: On this week’s show Amy Goodman explains how Democracy Now came about and she shares success stories about people struggling to get it on the air in their town. I recorded her speaking at a session of the Media Convention sponsor by Free Press in Memphis. Amy is one of THE best broadcast journalists out there but she is rarely if ever on mainstream news channels. If it’s Sunday it must be right wing pundents on TV. So much for the so called liberal media bias.

Musical guests this week are the Wyrd Sisters. I love these womyn and their music! They are highly regarded in their home (Canada) and won the equivalent of the grammy up there in the folk category. If lesbians heard more of them here I know they would be at least as big as the Indigo Girls are in the U.S. They are wonderful...check them out and then go buy their CDs. nuff said...Each week I go search for the best of independent music on the podsafe music network. When I find a real jewel like The Wyrd Sisters I’ll let you know. One of my goals with the podcast is to bring you news & information you’re not getting through the main stream press and music your not hearing on corporate radio.
